Hi friends! Sorry it’s been so quiet on the blog lately. We have had a great relaxing winter season but soon…we are headed back into the thick of things! In fact, this coming weekend is our last one with no shoots. From there on, we are at it almost every weekend! And I’m really looking forward to being busy again :)
In the meantime, while I have no pictures to blog, I thought I’d share something that’s been really useful for us lately when it comes to our cooking!
Matt and I try to eat at home as much as possible, especially for dinner. It’s way cheaper and much better for us…win-win! What I’d been having a problem with recently was planning out my meals, buying all my fresh produce and meats, and then just winging it based on what we felt like eating that night. Without fail, every week we would end up wasting something that went out of date and that’s just so discouraging and counter-productive.
So, my husband came up with this idea that I’m about to show you, and then I made it pretty :) The first few weeks, I wrote it on a little piece of scrap paper and stuck it to the fridge, but that’s just ugly and unacceptable! :) So I made these little sheets for myself in three colors that I print out every time we get back from the store.
I write down all the meals I’ve got planned first, then I check all my expiration dates on my meats and fill that part in. Lastly, I just sit down with my calendar and piece it all together so I’ve got a clear plan! I always know what we’re having each night and nothing goes out of date. We’ve only been doing this for about 5 weeks and it has seriously helped us so much!
